Thinly sliced pork steaks marinated in an easy soy sauce, garlic and ginger marinade. This is the real deal. World class BBQ!
What You'll Need
  • 1kg Pork Shoulder Steak
  • ½ Cup Mashed Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Mashed Ginger
  • 1 Cup Spring Onions/Scallions, Finely chopped
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Cups Soy Sauce
  • 1 Cup Mirin
  • 2 Cups Water
  • ⅓ Cup Sesame Oil
  • Serve with...
  • Korean BBQ dipping sauce
  • Ssamjang
  • Lettuce
  • Side dishes
  • Kimchi

How to Make It
  1. Freeze the pork steaks for 1-2 hours. When they are slightly frozen, chop the steak as thinly as possible. Freezing them for a short time makes them easier to slice.
  2. Add the mashed garlic, ginger, spring onions/scallions, sugar, soy sauce, mirin, water and sesame oil to a large bowl and mix them completely.
  3. Add the pork to the sauce and mix them. Leave it for half an hour to marinate.
  4. Heat the bbq grill over a high heat, When hot, lay the meat on the grill and cook the pork, turning occasionally until it is done on both sides. Use a clean pair of scissors to cut the meat into bite size pieces so it is easy to pick up with chopsticks. Enjoy Dwaejigalbi with Korean side dishes and a bowl of rice.
